Keeping emerging needs in view and in order to train its faculty and the students for playing their role in the mega project of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), University of Management and Technology (UMT) Lahore has set up CPEC Research Centre, which was inaugurated by Chinese Council General Lahore Long Ding Don along with varsity's Rector Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad, here on Monday.

According to the spokesperson of UMT the purpose of establishing the centre is to raise awareness among the students and public regarding CPEC and its various dimensions. Besides conducting in depth research, seminars and workshops, the Centre will focus on connecting Pakistani market with its Chinese counterpart and engaging young entrepreneurs studying at Pakistani and Chinese universities to come up with innovative business plans and new strategies to be applied on CPEC.

Chinese Council General, Long Ding Don, while speaking on the occasion, said that together Pakistani and Chinese universities could contribute hugely to successful implementation of CPEC. He said CPEC would bring prosperity for Pakistan stabilising its economy through one road, one belt. He appreciated UMT management's endeavours for carrying on successful Chinese classes in the varsity and raising awareness among the faculty and students. He hoped that trained young professionals from Pakistani universities such as UMT would come forward and make the CPEC a success.

Talking to media after the inauguration ceremony, Rector UMT Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad said, "Our faculty is committed in undertaking research on CPEC, which is the future of Pakistan. We are working very hard on the students and getting them ready to professionally contribute to the mega project and shape a new future".
